Day 15: Dove
Verses: Luke 2:14
Back Then: Doves appear as part of Noah’s ark, were a bird of sacrifice in the temple, and was the form the Holy Spirit took at Jesus’ baptism. Doves were often a symbol of purity and peace.
Today: Another animal that may not have been there, the dove represents the change in our relationship with God. Even when peace is unseen, God offers a peace that is beyond explanation. When we are right with God (pure through Jesus), everything is alright.
Family Talk: What is one of the best foods you eat around Christmas time?
Picture Help: I think in the previous version of this painting, the dove was on the left side of the stable. Moving it to the right was a choice to spread the content out more. As long as the dove is almost touching the roof of the stable, it doesn't really matter where it goes. Just flip the stencil over to make the dove face whichever direction you choose.
