Day 20: Myrrh
Verses: John 19:38-40
Back Then: Myrrh was used for embalming. Perhaps the gift of myrrh pointed to Jesus’ ultimate death on the cross. Some people think this myrrh was kept until it was used on Jesus after the crucifixion. There is no mention of this however.
Today: It seems weird to give a baby something needed for a funeral. We need to remember that God’s plans are sometimes slow developing. No matter what you will do when you grow up, start preparing for what God has in store for you now.
Family Talk: What are some things the kids might not remember about when they were still really little?
Picture Help: The jar is presented as much for diversity of the three containers as anything. Myrrh was a resin similar to frankensense. From a pictorial perspective, since today's stencil did not take long to paint, you can go back and touch up or change other elements you are not as happy with ffrom previous painting.
